Merry Christmas folks, anyway as you can see I love lists and listing things, heres a gift to you dear reader. A list of some of the Best albums of 2010 and my second update of the year. I know, you don't even need to say "thanks", you're welcome. Let's just pass over the "what have you done all year" bullshit and get to the list.

10. Tv On the Radio - Nine Types of Light

I've always been kinda ambivalent towards this band, they were obviously talented but I felt like they only hit their marks half the time. I wanted to like them, have some of the same passion that so many people had for them but it always fell short. On this album it seemed like they finally figured out the formula and created a mostly listenable album. Honestly, I hardly skip any songs on this unlike their previous efforts where I was just searching for the thing that I liked.

9. Little Dragon - Ritual Union

I've been intrigued by this band since they appeared on the Gorillaz - Plastic Beach album and here they've delivered a stunning electro - pop album. I think that sometimes when you make an electronic album you're immediately stereotyped as a very impersonal band. Little Dragon has done something that few electro bands have and made it as enjoyable as ever. Heres my favorite song off the record over video from An Endless Summer.

8. My Morning Jacket - Circuital

After releasing Evil Urges a few years ago they come back and dial the experimentation way back.

That's not too say these guys have closed up their bag of tricks it's just to say that their maybe playing it a little safer. I attribute that to lead singer Jim James' cover of George Harrison tunes and playing with The Monster of Folk.

7. Radiohead - The King of Limbs

They just keep making beautiful music and this band could be here solely on the strength of this one song. I'm praying they make a stop in Vegas when they hash out their entire tour for this album.

6. Handsome Furs - Sound Kapital

I'm in no way opposed to this movement of electronic making a comeback in the alternative world. This album has some strong writing and some of the catchiest tunes I've heard all year. Though this band could handle with trying to be U2 less.

5. The Horrors - Skyying

Look I loved the last effort for these guys, and now I'm thinking they're at this spot on the list basically on the strength of their last album. This time they're more interested in not going into crazy atmospherics. I hope on the next album they allow themselves to go crazy again and not be so tight.

4. Wilco - The Whole Love

Jeff Tweedy could teach a class on how to write a song. I don't think these guys can make an album I won't like nowadays, maybe that's 'cause I'm in my 30's now though.

3 Cults - Cults

Sexy, and Sincere this album came with a lot of expectations and it lived up to them if you're asking me. This came with the energy and confidence of a band I would expect to have been around forever so this seems like an anomaly as a Freshman album.

2. Fucked Up - David Comes to Life

I had no clue who Fucked Up were in 2010, by 2011 I was praising their latest album. I'm not even a fan of hardcore music, however, when you change the rules of what defines a hardcore band I'll check it out. Honestly the beautiful harmonies provided by the girl from The Cults that this band included is what puts it here on my list, it was almost as crucial as the incredible talent of the everyday pieces of the band. I saw someone compare the songwriting to Bruce Springsteen and would like to agree.

1. The Vaccines - What Did You Expect From the Vaccines

This was the album that The Strokes were supposed to make. Hands down. I can't wait to see what the future holds for these guys, I pray its more of this.

About a year ago some friends and I elected that it would be a great decision to visit Europe during the winter months (This is when most of us have our time off). Winter sounded perfect to me since my employment is non-existent during this time and I have been making zero progress in my attempts to effectively breed Unicorns. We all understood that visiting Europe in the winter isn't ideal but don't have much of a choice, I'm also confident that we've all packed appropriately for the cold, maybe even overestimating the harshness of their winter in eastern Europe.

I'm writing this on the day I leave for Europe and my plan is to be able to update at train stations and hotels. Our merry crew of raconteurs for this trip is small, really only four people. The good news is that by having only four people everyone has a role within the group and are all a little different in personality. Monica (the muscle) is probably the more adventurous and daring of the group, Matt (the wild card) is generally quiet and will most likely just go with the flow, though is always good for a random event, Dana (the muscle) seemingly has a lot of plans and activities figured out which are sure to include breweries and wineries (I have no problem with that at all) as well as other destinations, and then theres me (the brains). If you can't tell we may be in some trouble when the brains (me) of this operation can barely write, this is also why we had no interest in bringing someone to take up the role of the Beauty, we realized early that the extra muscle would be more necessary.

Trouble isn't anything anyone is worried about though. We all prayed last night, Monica, Dana, and I all prayed to the right and good Christian God, while Matt prayed to Satan (I'm just assuming that from what I've read from his Facebook updates.), while I also suggested that we also make an offering to The Monster Mash and pledge to do the "Graveyard Smash" at each destination. This suggestion has fallen on deaf ears, if anything happens to us I know why.

The only part that could be scary at all though is the fact that the four of us will be together for three weeks straight. This means that Casino's in Vegas have automatically set the over/under line for SERIOUS arguments at about five. I expect a few arguments to look like mildly like this one (LINK), with maybe less boyfriend talk and a lot more arguing about schedules. Anyway if you want to follow us on our trip and are able to read my ramblings, feel free to check back here every few days. I hope to update at least 2-3 times a week.

These guys are showing up in music videos lately. What's the deal? Are we forgiving them for our obesiity? How is Ronald Mcdonald even considered a romantic interest for the singer from Best Coast (honestly I love their music. Can't wait for an LP). I have proof that all fast food icons are possible date rapists. Really they should scoop up some Ed Hardy shirts and then the look is complete. No jury WOULDN'T convict.

Wrestlemania 26

Yesterday I went to Wrestlemania and ran a live tweeting session of the entire event and for your pleasure I've decided to post it here.

3:30 pm: "super jumbo cotton candy that is super and jumbo". Overheard from a super jumbo cotton candy salesman.

3:47 pm: The wrestler "Santino" appears to have a monster unibrow. Google it.

3:49 pm: A midget just kicked a few peoples ass. Maybe it was a dwarf but who gives a damn.

3:53 pm: They just opened the roof here. My buddy Donny has admitted he would hate his life.

3:58 pm: After I suggested wrestlmania had a comicon element Donny reminded me this is the "showcase of the immortals".

4:05 pm: Donny has now said fantasia wasn't good enough to sing "the star spangled banner" at wrestlemania. He wanted beyonce instead.

4:09 pm: Just realized I'm about to see "the Miz" from the real world wrestle. I am the most excited person in a crowd of 72k 2 watch

4:15 pm: MIZ WINS MIZ WINS!!!! Him and the big show remain tag team champs.

4:19 pm: Million dollar man has a son??? Oh yes and now I know who I'm rooting for on this match. #teamdibiase.

4:20 pm: It appears I'm In a minority for this match. These people don't know.

4:31 pm: The million dollar man's son just lost to a man I am to believe is tortured by mental illness. Randy Orton won.

4:34 pm: Eddie guerrero's wife is following his legacy. Maybe this means after she wins the championship she will die

4:36 pm: Wwwooooohhhh. Ladder match folks. Wait there's a Jamaican involved?? If he wins drug test that guy for ped's

4:55 pm: Lots of boos in the crowd as the "all american american" wins the money in the bank/ladder match.

4:58 pm: And they decided to reopen the roof at university of Phoenix stadium. Perhaps fan man will make an appearance.

5:05 pm: There's a Ginger wrestling??? Triple H please dominate this. Ginger's were born to be behind the scenes. Re: Ron Howard.

5:48 pm: Hitman v. Mcmahon. The 13 year rivalry that started at the "Montreal screwjob". I pray that the mean street posse comes.

5:52 pm: Mr. Mcmahon has the greatest swaggar of any person alive. I may try to mimic it myself.

6:06 pm: This match is like watching a snuff film. Kinda boring and we know it ends.

6:39 pm: My younger favorite chris Jericho with the fan upsetting win holds onto the title Long live the liontamer.

6:46 pm: Donny can't have another beer. He's about to buy another replica belt.

6:49 pm: Dear Batista. It's not very masculine to have a tattoo around your belly button. I'm just letting you know.

7:20 pm: Shawn Micheals v. Undertaker now. Supposedly if Shawn micheals loses he finally is allowed to retire at the age of 55 or so.

7:51 pm: Goodbye Shawn micheals. If it makes you feel better I just saw a grown man cry. Hope that helps.

Allright this lady is now officially not as bad as I believed. Charm, Wit, Grace these are not the qualities I attribute to Sandra Bullock often (typically annoying and frustrating). However, accepting an award for the Worst Performance of the year for her work in "All About Steve" in person at the Golden Raspberries is awesome and she did it with style. Bravo. Now about tonight, I wouldn't mind if you won Best Actresses since it was a boring year for good roles in the lead lady department.

Allright I realize that I have been off the grid for a while and now your wondering if you should ever read anything I say after I left you like a dead beat dad you skips on your visitation weekend. However I pledge to make it up to you by giving you some good best of year lists, and really there aren't ever enough of those are there?

In this case we're starting off with the best Albums of 2009 I hope you enjoy these since I expect that you will be trying to download the torrents as your reading them.

11. (I know eleven is a ridiculous number to start with but I couldn't leave the album off my list, sorry) Handsome Furs - Face control This is an example of a husband/wife team can pull off some great rock music. Typically electronic drums just drive me crazy but this album changes that. Great lyrics as well as great arrangements make for a great album any day. If your a fan of Sunset Rudown or Wolf Parade you woe it to yourself to scoop this up. Also I would like to congratulate this band on avoiding the sophmore slump, now go make a third album.

10. Sunset Rubdown - Dragonslayerm This is another band that fell out of Wolf Parade and put together a great album. Dragonslayer though is this bands fourth effort and It may be there strongest. They came far and aren't afraid to spread their wings sonically. While making straight forward alternative to even dipping their feet in prog-rock craziness they seem right at home doing anything. Truly an interesting album from a band that has a great history.

09. The Decemberists - Hazards of Love Okay if you don't dig this after the first listen give it a few. Any band that rights a fairytale rock opera is bound to raise eyebrows. With a story that vould have been written by the Brothers Grimm Colin Meloy and company put together one of the best albums of the year with songs about a shapeshifter that falls in love and what he goes through to protect his love. The album does a great job of going back and forth between slow and fast paced songs and achieves a terrific balance of the two. I would love to see this on stage rather than on the video the band is putting together but in the meantime I can just put this on. (listen to "the rakes song" and the wonderful "Isn't It a Lovely Night?")

08. The Doves - Kingdom of Rust If your kind of in the mood for a rainy days type of record look no farther. With reverb drenched guitars this trio from Manchester did it again. A few years after their previous album "Some Cities" these guys made another hit. Also on some tracks including 10:03 they even sprinkled a touch of pyschedelia on the album.

07. The Horrors - Primary Colors Wow. This is a band that I couldn't have been happier with. This was another great Sophomore album, however in this case it's different. Different in the sense that the band's first album was an abortion. Please if I was this band I wouldn't bring it up at all. This is perhaps why this band actually left their previous label. Also they changed direction. No longer are they more focused on being a punk band, they've decided to change direction and become more of a post-punk band. Going away from being another crappy British punk band that brought in an occasional synthesizer and trying to go to becoming the next Joy Division is always a good plan. With great songs about telling a chick that she's better off without him(Who can Say) to seeing how life is a journey that where sometimes you need to take a different direction than most and invite others on your journey (Sea Within a Sea). Breakout tracks are "Who can Say" and "Sea Within a Sea"

If you decide to get this album be sure to get this single that was released about 5 months ago. Beautiful and it's painting a much nicer and acceptable (optimistic) view on life.

06. Wilco - Wilco (the Album) This is the sound of Wilco trying to just remake something that will get them the same success they get on previous albums like Yankee Hotel Foxtrot and A Ghost is Born. Clearly they haven't tried to extend their range or bring anything new to the table. Yes I may be giving them a pass for this album. However this is not taking that much from them. I LOVE those albums and aren't that worried. I'm merely excited to see what else this band is willing to do when they have the ball in their hands. That being said there are some REALLY good songs from this album. Specifically the songs "You and I feat. Feist" which is a great song about relationships and the strength you get from the other person. The darkest song though on the record though is one of the best written songs they've had about a man who had just killed someone and driving away "Bull Black Nova" which is lead by a great guitar solo which reminds the listener that this band is a rock bad first and pop-rock second, that's just if you needed a reminder.

05. Modest Mouse - No Ones First and Your Last Heres another complaint that someone may have. This isn't a traditional album, this is a collection of B-sides and basically is just an EP. However, what's cool about this collection is that they are just cuts that work as a B-side collection because they were songs that were left out of the last 2 LP's so at least the music is relevant to what they are doing currently. Too often a collection of B-sides get released over a bands catalog and the music itself is no longer cohesive to create an album of random songs with varying styles. Hoewever, Modest Mouse gets it right and releases some great songs that no fan should go without.

04. Mos Def - the Ecstatic Mos Def comes back with his strongest Hip-Hop album since Black on Both Sides here. Going away from what he was trying to do the previous albums with adding his rock band Black Jack Johnson here he goes straight to Hip-Hop. With great production from Oh No and Madlib he makes an amazing album that's also very personal. My favorite track though is one that seemingly has a beat that sounds part negro spiritual part club banger. In one word: Amazing.

03. Girls - Album Heres the great Lo-fi album of the year. this is an album for a generation that asks "what now?" Here the band doesn't answer you, what they do is basically go "yeah I'm a mess as well so I can't help you too much". Which is actually pretty helpful. On the song "Lust for Life" songwriter Chris Owens basically accepts that he's screwed up and is just fine with it. With a great mix of garage aspects but with a light nod to optimism made this a phenomenal hit. Though they can hit some lows this band accomplished alot and needs to be recognized.

02. Phoenix - Wlofgang Amadeus Phoenix No other band came with this much hype. You could really say that Phoenix is a pop act and you wouldn't be wrong. Clearly slick this band brought guitars to a euro-pop surface and made what could only be considered fun. Really this is the sound of a band coming out to take over the world.

01. Yeah Yeah Yeahs - It's Blitz Okay and the winner is the Yeah Yeah Yeahs. Now many people complained how this great garage band turned into a dance rock band but honestly the new formula copmliments the band just as well. It was as if the band sat down with Deborah Harry (Blondie) and everyone was content with being the version of Blondie for the 21st century. While some of the songs are perhaps almost made for the dance floor however, the band is still willing to go to the same depths emotionally as they pulled off years ago with the song "Maps". Songs in particular is the anti-"Maps" cut called "Skeleton" which is the about the end of a relationship. Really haunting and beautiful this album was what stood out for me at the end of the year in what was honestly a disapointing year in music.

Yep, Pearl Jam just released a new album and the new video was directed by Cameron Crowe. It's definitely one of their catchier tunes, though the video itself is disappointing. I wanted to believe that if these two paired up it would be a little more impressive than a over the top Concert video but whatever. This is what we got.

Another song that I have been playing ad nauseam is a bit of a golden oldie. This is a jam from INXS and reminds me alot of a song that New Order may have done in the mid 80's if INXS wouldn't have beaten them to it. Anyway it's a good song, enjoy.

HBO's Bored to Death

I just saw the first episode of HBO's new comedy "Bored to Death" and I'm a little disappointed. I expected a lot from this show, and honestly with a cast like this who wouldn't. Jason Schwartzman plays a writer with writers block who turns to being a private detective, Zach Galifianakis as Jason's best friend, and Ted Danson as Jason's pot addicted boss. When I heard this idea it really struck me, I have always loved the idea of an everyman character trying to become a detective, perhaps it is my own desire to escape into that world. Noir films/books have always created worlds that I wish that I could be in. A world of femme fatales and shady cops sounds great.

Unfortunately none of this seemed to translate to the the TV show. I understand that this was merely the pilot, but it was hardly gripping. Maybe there was too much Jason Schwartzman, the best scenes were when he was there with Ted Danson who looks primed to be the best thing on the show which is impressive because Galifianakis is always seemingly the first person to steal the spotlight (see: The Hangover). I still have hope for the show, though I can only promise that I will watch the next few episodes before I write it off completely.

You would have thought I learned after I had my hopes up about the Radiohead EP about 2 weeks ago, unfortunately I didn't. Supposedly at Miceage.com Al Lutz is reporting (LINK) that at D23 (Comicon for disney fans) that Captain Eo will be returning to Disneyland. Yep Disney is trying to cash in on the George Lucas produced/Francis Ford Coppola directed 3d short film to make some money right after the King of pop passed away/killed. Lucky for you though folks if it's been a while (at least 20 years seemingly for me) since you last saw Captain Eo I have dug through the mess that it is the internet to bring it to you.

I know Chinese Democracy already came out, I'm talking about Only Built 4 Cuban Links II, the follow-up to Raekwon's smash Only Built 4 Cuban Links which was released in 1995. He released other 2 other albums but this is the sequel to one of the best Wu albums. Anyway heres the video for the first single.

Is it to early to be waiting for July 19 2010? Honestly, to see the trailer for this movie when I went and Saw Inglourious Basterds was a treat. Christopher Nolan is one of the best storyteller's out there and have no concern that this movie will be another amazing movie. With him at the helm and with the cast that he has I can't imagine it to fail.

The best Show on Adult Swim has returned. Hands down no show has the same kind of draw and use of various pop culture references. Or maybe it was my childhood raised partly on old Johnny Quest cartoons that brought this interest in me, whichever it was doesn't take away from how well written this show and it's characters are. In the meantime the Trailer for season 4 was released today though the episodes won't come out until november, so in the meantime I can watch this over and over.

NEW RADIOHEAD EP TOMMORROW!?!?!?

According to the word on the street theres a new Radiohead EP that will be released tomorrow. I say this because it's in secret and there hasn't been anything officially announced from the band. I actually kind of have a lot of faith in this news, the band has released 2 new songs in 2 weeks. One song was a song about the last survivor of WW1 who had recently died which you could buy from their site with proceeds going to a charity and the other was supposedly a song that was leaked off this track. I'm just glad to know there recording at all really though they say they have no plans for an LP anytime soon. The sites reporting this mystery EP are Pitchfork and Stereogum.

If you were ever interested in an Office type mockumentary about 3 perpetual convicts trying to live in a Trailer Park in Nova Scotia look no farther. Clearly Trailer Park Boys is the show for you.

Honestly the Characters and the writing make this show, As much of a dumb concept that this is they pull it off as maybe one of the smartest shows on TV with the rapid fire way that you will catch a Rickyism or anything else in the Dialogue. If you don't have Directv like me go out of your way to cop it.

They have bigger fans than just me.

The music video that Heath Ledger was directing for Modest Mouse's song "King Rat" finally debuted today. I think it's a good video but creepy how subtle he is on the subject of whaling. Beware it's a little graphic.

I will say that it's cool that for the first month whenever anyone buys the video off itunes the proceeds go to Sea Shepherd Consveration Society (they're the crew from "Whale Wars" on Animal Planet. So go buy this it's for a good cause and enjoy the multiple viewings.

Honestly I'm a little concerned. I was very excited about this when I first heard about it since Burton is such a very visual director, however, I fear he may have gone a little overboard. Depp as the Mad Hatter just kind of looks frightening, and the rest of the actors look very strange i.e. Helena Bonham Carter as the Queen of Hearts. Hopefully I'm only worried because of the poor quality of the video and everything will look more believable when a decent quality video is released.

I recently was called out for not discussing the Dead Weather. Honestly, it's an allright album, I hang it up on the wall next to an album by the Raconteurs. Here is there video for "Treat Me Like Your Mother", enjoy. Though I will warn you, incase you didn't read the subject title of this post both of these videos are very violent.

Really that's a great video, just a beautiful use of natural light. Actually, that's the only thing that draws me to that video besides the song. So does that make it a great video? Maybe I should just say that it's a good video. Too bad the guy who directed that directed the very underrated feature "Sexy Beast" as well as this classic music video.

Next up is the new video from the Yeah Yeah Yeah's.

Again pretty violent, but a good song. Actually that's from a great album. I think that may be the best album I've heard all year, nothing else pops out as really special this year with the exception of the last Bruce Springsteen album. I just love the Yeah Yeah Yeah's album "It's Blitz". If you haven't copped this yet get it. One of the highmarks of that album is the song "Skeletons" which may be the anti-thesis of this earlier song by them.

Yeah so about three weeks ago I saw "Moon" and it was pretty damn good. Honestly if you are a fan of Sci-Fi this is required viewing. Especially if you like your Sci-Fi with more of a psychological angle and less of an emphasis on action. As I recall the only arguement about this movie was that it drags on occasion. I also remember that most of the movie plays out like "Space Madness". Go watch this, though if you didn't see "Up" go see that instead.

I hate Joe Buck, his his hatred of Baseball while he broadcasts it along with his completely unemotional play-by-play style is the most boring type of commentary. Why this guy gets his own show to discuss sports is crazy. Luckily the great Artie Lange is available to deep-six such a thing on the first episode. Wow I need to see this show. Supposedly it comes out on HBO in September sometime, i haven't seen a date posted for it yet, but this show looks awesome. I have been a long time fan of detective stories and i think they have the talent to put together something good and still comical. Also Zach Galifianakis is involved as well as Jason Schwartzman, I am very confident in these two and I doubt they will disappoint. September really won't come soon enough.

Good New Music: The Horrors - Primary Colours

This is not what I expected from "The Horrors" on their second album. I am very thankful for this, the orginal album was more garage punk and screaming than anything I really listen to. That's why i'm thankful the changed course on this second album. It was convenient since they changed labels as well. they clearly matured and went in the direction of being more of a post-punk/shoegaze band now which is something I am finding myself more and more interested in all the time (I did say Deerhunter made the best album of last year). The two songs that I found videos for are clearly the standout tracks for the album, you can tell they are leaning in the direction of Joy Division and My Bloody Valentine. Hopefully they will stay the course for a long time.

Review: Up

Eric Cartman once said "you have got to learn to chill. Life goes by pretty fast, if you don't stop and look around once in a while and do whatever you want all the time, you could miss it." These are words that I do my best to live bye, unfortunately, I can't do it to the extreme that a sociopath like Cartman does.

Carl Fredrickson is on the opposite of this lifestyle. He is burdened by carrying the guilt of his inability to take his wife on the adventure that he had promised to give her. There is an incredible silent montage (probably the most moving scene in the history of Pixar) where it shows Carl and his wife going through 50 years of marriage and dealing with standard hardships in life where they are forced to use all the money saved up for the trip. Be it a flat tire, new roof, or paying for his wife's hospital bills there was always an important reason to take their savings and put it to immediate work. After she passes away he becomes colder and embittered and looks at a mural that was painted which was painted to remind the 2 of this adventure that they had dreamed about and feels the shame and guilt for never being able to give his love what she had dreamed of.

When he is forced to go to a nursing home he devises a plan to float his home to the land that they had dreamed of. At this point Russel (a make shift boy scout) appears in. Carl who has now become this man who closed himself off now needs the help of someone else to maneuver his house to Paradise Falls. From here the story gets a little convoluted but doesn't lose any points.

This may be the best Pixar movie and probably the best movie I've seen at this point in the year. Even the short film "Partly Cloudy" was amazing. It was so amazing that it inspired me to go and buy it on itunes when I got home. Do not miss this movie, especially if you like Pixar in general. The characters were great and had some great and touching moments, even the dialogue was great, hardly anything I expect from an animated film. The theme of the movie is that you need to be greatfull for everything and to be excited about the moment. That you are constantly participating in the adventure of life and that as Russel says ""It might sound boring, but I kinda think it's the boring stuff I remember the most." This is far from boring and was the most enjoyable movie of the year, not funniest, just the most enjoyable movie. Now go out and enjoy your own adventure.

Review: Land of the Lost

Honestly I just watched this last night and I don't remember much of it. Really it was just a standard Will Ferrel comedy, you should already know what your getting before you walk into the theater. The effects aren't that great, but neither was the television shows. The acting is what you would expect from this kind of movie, nothing special. Honestly, Danny Mcbride wasn't able to do his usual schtick since it was only a PG-13 film.

Hmm, so far I make this movie sound terrible, it wasn't. It did have some funny references and some decent physical comedy. Danny Mcbride did offer some good lines, none of them memorable though, but I assure you they were funny. My final feelings on this are that this was an unbelievably forgettable film and nobody needs to burn any calories to go see this in the theater. If you are desperate for a time killer go crazy and see it, theres just simply no reason to NEED to see it.

Review: The Hangover

It was a while ago now that I actually watched this, unfortunately I just haven't had the time to throw this out. Anyway, to the review. The Hangover is the Newest movie from Todd Philips, the man who brought you "Old School"and "Road trip" and this time he pulls out his funniest film yet. Bradley Cooper, Ed Helms, Zach Galifianakis all gave amazing performances, especially Zach. Zach Galifianakis has finally showed himself to the world as one of the funniest people in Hollywood. Now the rest of the world will see what I knew about months ago (LINK). There were also some great cameos from Heather Graham as well as a cameo from Mike Tyson that promises not to disappoint.

I also want to give credit to director Todd Philips for showing this adventure in the way it was. The movie really opens itself up to comparison of another great movie that many people would not have seen coming, specifically "Memento". I haven't been inspired by another movie to watch that but this one definitely did.

Honestly I thought this was great, I would party with these guys anyday.

That's the plan, each week during the summer i will watch and review a new movie that goes into the theaters each week, regardless of whether or not I am excited for them.

Our first installment will be Terminator: Salvation.

This was a movie that came out a week and a half ago (though I will work on my timing I will probably be watching on the tuesday after the release.) Anyway back to the movie, Without watching the third one, which I had zero interest in watching, the story on this one wasn't that spectacular. Which was surprising after how much emphasis Christian Bale said was put on story and Character development. What was up front and seemed most important was the effects. Summer movies have always been style over substance and this is no different unfortunately.

One of the gripes I always have in a dystopic future where humanity gets it's asskicked on the regular is the part where Villians are everywhere and far more intelligent than the humans are for some reason unable to defeat the humans even though they know where they're located. I just need to know why they haven't been completely overtaken. I played Starcraft, I know how this worked.

the movie was full of cliches as well, including a great scene which felt like it was taken out of a Bond movie. At the end of the movie it asks the viewer what makes us human? My short answer is that a robot would know better.

I think there may be a small amount of discussion on this topic. I mean he's pretty boring in some departments but he does have some interesting qualities. For exmaple one of his favorite TV shows was "The Wire", needless to say that is pretty kickass. Anyone who is a fan of "The Wire" gets my vote for being a badass immediately.

I can not wait till this comes out since I loved the story as a little Outlaw. Also this is just a great example of a great trailer, good music, good visuals, and it's pretty minimalist.

Twitter has got to be one of the more entertaining things online. I think it works great to go with Facebook. I don't think it can ever replace what Facebook does but I enjoy it alot more. Twitter seems more Celebrity Friendly, in the sense that you can follow conversations between 2 of them. It also makes it available for A/B/C celebrities to talk to their followers. It is merely an easy to use social media application that gives no real information about the users and allows them to discuss anything.

During the first week I was on twitter I watched a particularly interesting conversation between Rainn Wilson (Dwight) and Dr. Drew discuss what type of Vagina a Mermaid would have. I was instantly hooked. Watching this back and forth was one of the most interesting time wasters that I had ever seen. Thanks to Twitter I never would have realized that mermaids would most likely have a Cloacae combo type vagina. This was strange to watch unfold to say the least however it so far hasn't been the most outrageous thing twittered.

The award for the most outrageous thing twittered would go to Diddy. Honestly I think Diddy may be insane. that guy posts so often it's crazy, for example it seems he records mostly at night and goes to sleep around 10am. He also seems like a pretty positive human being which many celebrities appear like. However, I think you are less interested in what kind of human being he is and more interested in an example on how he posts the most outrageous things. The most outrageous thing that Diddy ever tweet about was On February 27th when he was live tweeting while having tantric sex. This is just another example of how nobody can do it like Diddy. If your interested Diddy supposedly went 6 and a half hours before his back started cramping.

Not everything on twitter though involves people talking about strange conversations and Diddy going crazy. There is also some cool and interesting stuff going on. I just got this today thanks to Kovas (music producer). Though I now worry that M.I.A. is going out of her way to just remake "paper planes". Honestly I haven't seen music this lazy since 50 cent made "Candy Shop" and "Magic Stick". Hopefully the final product isn't such a cookie cutter remake.

Twitter is not designed to ever replace Facebook. Facebook offers so many features and allows for easy access to meet people from work, and from school. In regards for Twitter you have to do all the legwork yourself. They accompany each other wonderfully, and in the way social media works I will unfortunately need both for a while. Well until I can follow diddy's sexual conquests on Facebook.

This is one of the funnest things I've heard in a while. It seems like that there used to be a lot of video game covers by bands. Nine Inch Nails did a famous cover of the Zelda theme song on their shows for example. And I've heard some mainstream songs going 8-bit before but I think that this may be one of the more enjoyable ones. The standout parts of the track for me were "Golddigger" and "What you know". Awesome.

Who Watches the Watchmen? ME!

As a fan of the book I was a little excited about this, though I was concerned about how a book that was so cinematic in the way it was done yet, so unfilmmable would translate to the screen. The story was great and some of the acting was wonderful. I understand how so many people were unsatisfied with Malin Ackerman's performance of the Silk Spectre 2. Rohrshach and Comedian were pulled off the best, there performances were fantastic. Truly in a movie where there are no real likeable characters they were pulled off the best. My only real gripe with the story was terrible makeup job that was put on Nixon. That was a little distracting.

The one thing that so many fanboys were unhappy about was the change in the ending. I'm still uncertain why it was necessary, and the new ending doesn't take away or give anything different to the overall story. Overall the movie was enjoyable. Though I would only go and see this if you had read the book. I also look forward to it on Blu-ray if it puts the "Tales of the Black Freighter" intermingled through the movie.

It seems like theres going to be a ton of worthwhile music that's coming out soon. I just heard about three more cd's that will be out before years end that I am excited for.

Firstly, theres the new album from Sonic Youth The Eternal. Needless to say I'm excited about this, after their last attempt I am back on the SY bandwagon. As long as they stay with that recipe I won't be away, also I saw them with Pearl Jam in concert and it was amazing. As long as they stay with the old recipe of just going with a lo-fi stripped down guitar sound that they did on their last album I will be there to see them again.

Black Rebel Motorcycle Club is currently recording a new album that is supposed to be out before the end of the year. This band has yet to disappoint me on one of their studio albums, though I was horrified though by their self released album last year though, and am wondering how they can outdo their last effort. Baby 81 was my favorite album of 2007 so I am on pins until this arrives.

Lastly I just heard from Pitchfork that Jarvis Cocker will be releasing his new album Further Complications May 19th. His last album was great, and some of the stuff that he did when he lead his previous band "Pulp" was remarkable. I just hope he can bring back some of the wittiness that he had on his last album. Tron 2.0

I honestly didn't think I would care about this at all. I wasn't a fan of the original film, Then I had seen a Nike commercial by Tron 2.0's director. The commercial itself was unappealing though it did show an interesting use of CGI. Needless to say that will be more than necessary in a Tron vehicle. Actually heres that commercial.

The real news though about this is that Daft Punk is reportedly going to do the soundtrack. When I heard that, this movie immediately became relevant. There really is no other option when you need a futuristic soundtrack.

Joe Pesci, what can the guy not do? The answer in short is nothing. He is one of the best actors of our time and anyone that disagrees will find their head in a vice. Cause as Joe would put it “Nobody pull’s the wool over a Gambini”. The first movie that I remember watching Joe in was Home Alone. Of course I was a kid and I wasn’t allowed to watch most of the types of movies he was in. He did however play a great role in that movie but it wasn’t until years later after watching Goodfellas for the 100th time that, I started to question how he could kill people so easily yet he couldn’t catch one little kid? He even had Daniel Stern the voice over actor for the Wonder Years helping out but the two of them could not catch that kid.
Never the less Joe is still a fine actor for his roles in Raging Bull in which he broke his nose sparing with my boy Bob DeNiro. In Goodfellas as the sick Tommy DeVito who killed Spyder (which by the way his whole family was rats and what was he going to do? Grow up to be a rat?) Also as everyone’s favorite friend Nicky Santoro in Casino, $100 who ever hits the plane.
Even with all these movie roles I don’t think anything is better then his music. I am talking specifically about his album “Vincent LaGuardia Gambini – Sings for you”. (This is the name of his character from My Cousin Vinny.) Watching and listening to him rap is awesome, the lyrics are even awesomer.

I'm not sure yet why they haven't advertised this movie with that tag-line yet. I honestly can't wait. This movie though looks very similiar to Eastbound. Both seem to deal with the "Hero" of american culture now. Plus it includes Danny Mcbride as some kind of gang member as well as up and coming comic actor Aziz Ansari. I would say that the only thing going against this movie is Seth Rogen. Seth Rogen really has become the "Lil Wayne" of movies. He just seems to be anywhere and is hurting himself by overexposure. Just unnecessary.

Also the fact that Anna faris is in it doesn't make it that bad either.I'm going to go out on a limb here and say that she is one of the sexiest actresses working that you never here anything about her. Seriously this broad has been in seemingly every other movie that comes out (26 credits this decade).

I would like to take this moment to tell all of my readers something that is of vital importance. DO NOT ever make derogatory remarks about the Jewish Faith. A quick jab can be laughed off no big deal if it's in jest, however, if you make your jab and then continue to rant about how they own all of Hollywood and then follow that by making a movie that's basically a "snuff" film where they kill Jesus for over an hour people may get the idea that your an anti-semite. As an anti-semite you run the possibility of the Jewish community avoiding to help produce anything that you are affiliated with in essentially ending your career. Look at Mr. Gibson for example, he made "Braveheart" for Chris's sake, now instead of Going to the Oscar's he's making parody films with Jimmy Kimmel (though to Jimmy's credit he's underrated).

Mel does have a movie coming out next year, though that is 3 years now After he directed "Apocalypto". Now I'm going to say that if this movie fails his career may not recover. Though that's no big since he can go back to swimming in his fortune from "The Passion" .

Look - Their is no way Christian Bale would be where he is now if it hadn’t been for American Psycho. I know, I know he was in Empire of the Sun but it wasn’t until he was in American Psycho that his popularity soared. Oh I guess it could have been Newsies, or Swing Kids (not a bad movie - I watched this is Junior High) or I know it was a Midsummer Nights Dream that did it. I guess it may have been the role of Demetrius that really did it for some of you.
For the rest of us it was American Psycho that made him the person he is today. Leading actor, Blockbuster star, and just the best person to play Patrick Bateman in American Psycho. No one could have played that role any better. The books description is exactly what Christian Bale looks like. The book is great and the movie is even better.
Anybody not convinced should A. Read the book or B. Watch the movie.

Wow, yesterday was a big day for podcasts. You had Adam Carolla's inaugural podcast as well as the availabiltiy of my own podcast now available on itunes. That's right folks, if you don't have an hour to sit at your desk and listen to my voice for an hour and a half you can now just download the podcast from itunes. Just do a search for "Modern Jackassery" and it will surprisingly be the only result there.

In regards to the other show now podcasting Adam Carollas's new show is great. Just an intimate kind of show where it's just him talking and discussing how the terrestrial radio business was failing. All in all a very sober and interesting show. This mornings show was him talking to his old "Loveline" cronie Dr. Drew which was pretty interesting. Needless to say that this show has already made it into my routine and am excited for what he does with it.

Upon watching TV one Wednesday night I came across WGN which was showing re-runs of Alf. Remember the late 80’s TV show about the alien that crash lands in The Tanners garage in all of places Riverside, California. Too bad he didn’t land about 45 miles west in Compton so we didn’t have to be exposed to this crap. Now when I was a kid watching this I thought the show was really funny but now after watching the re-runs I find that Alf is a total jerk. This middle class family takes him in, hides him from the government and that nosey neighbor (who happens to play later in TV life Jerry Seinfeld’s mom on Seinfeld) and what do they get in return from Alf? Nothing! The amount of bullshit they put up with is incredible. This Alf guy which by the way is not his real name but an acronym - Alien Life Form, is a real slob. He eats all the food, makes a mess of their home, tries to eat the family cat and puts the family in even more hardships all to protect this S.O.B. The first episode I saw during this re-run time was about how the Tanners daughter could not go to college because this bastard costs too much in up keep. So what does this jackass do? He starts taking jobs but because he is alien he can’t do them so the mom and dad of the series have to get involved and do the stupid jobs on top of their other shitty jobs they already have. Alf is a complete asshole in the show and how this was ever on for 4 years is beyond me.
So I took it upon my self to do some research about the show and see if maybe the show was so fun to work on and the chemistry was so right or that it was a cheap show to produce….. Something to why NBC served us this refried vomit of a show. Nothing could be found only anger and resentment was had. A half hour show would take 20 – 25 hours to shoot because of always hiding the puppet ALF. Trapdoors were used and the actors would always have to work around the little bastard. On the series finale no celebrating happened because no one enjoyed the show. In fact after the final scene was done the actor who played the dad (Max Wright) walked off the set and drove away. This just shows how bad this thing really was.
A great ending would have been the entire Tanner family curb stomping this little bastard. Now what a finale that would have been.

I need to explain that IN NO WAY DO I SUPPORT THE ABUSE OF WOMEN. I do however occasionally find myself in circumstances where I understand wanting to abuse someone. So when I am talking about Rihanna I'm saying that if she had given me herpes I would simply want to beat the hell out of her though I obviously wouldn't raise a fist. In this case Chris Brown is clearly in the wrong, people should never react violently no matter what the reason is. That being said I hope I haven't created too wide of a schism with my prison readership.

One of the things I really wanted to talk about during my tenure here on modern jackassery was the best College Basketball team of all time.

The 1990 UNLV Running Rebels.

The team that had future NBA stars Larry Johnson, Greg Anthony, and Stacy Augmon playing as professionals in a college game. This team had it all in them, 3 pointers from way out. Sky high dunks that make NBA Jam dunks look like junior ball. Oh and the sheer domination of every opponent they ever faced. The NCAA Tournament made all other teams they faced look like high school teams.

Regional Semifinals – UNLV 69 – Ball State 67

Welcome to Ken Griffrey Jr's- Slugfest

Ah Ken Griffrey Jr’s Slugfest……Ah the memories spring 1999. Let’s see, high school, baseball, finally seeing girls in mini skirts again after the long cold winter and playing Slugfest against one of my good friends Jeff. He always chose the Mariners the team that Griffey played for and I playing with the best team in Major League Baseball the New York Yankees. I don’t think anyone realized how much potential those Mariners teams had in them. They had Griffey of course, Alex Rodriguez (who still is a great player regardless of the dumb things he did in Texas) the Eagle Hardware man himself Edgar Martinez and 2008 World Series Winner Jamie Moyer (I cant believe he is still pitching and further more why the Phillies would give him a 3 year deal????). This team if it had remained would have had the addition of Ichiro Suzuki as a lead off man the following year. However in 2001 Griffey left and so did A-Rod. But the Mariners kept Edgar and Jamie Moyer and also the pin tar king Jay Buhner.
So how could the Mariners let go of what could have been the possibility of the top two players with the most home runs?
Simple…..The Mariners don’t care about success just money. How can I say they don’t care? They have a team that appears to try to win games. They have a great right fielder. They have one of the nicest ballparks in America. So why would I say they don’t care about success just money?

Because they just signed Ken Griffey Jr again.

This is not a move a successful team would make in order to get to the playoffs or win a world series. This is a move to put people in seats and sell some garlic fries and maybe a consideration to let those people that have been sporting a Griffey jersey from 1995 not feel like a clown.

I for one as a Yankee fan am glad to see Griffey back in Seattle because this means the Mariners will not be competitive again and this will make some feel like it is 1999 again.

Tomorrow will be the final broadcast of Adam Carolla on FM radio. It sounds like his show is getting cancelled due to budgetary reasons. Though he will live on the internet it just seems wild to me. This guy has been a part of my routine for at least 10 years. While on Loveline, Dr. Drew and him taught me practically everything I know it seems, after he left Loveline to pursue his own show. I should clarify though that There was a time that when I had first moved to Vegas I was unable to listen to loveline until the Adam Carolla show started. So theres actually a year and half in the middle there where I didn't actually have any opportunity to listen to him, though I did read there book a half dozen times in that time frame.

This wasn't just me though that was afflicted with this addiction. I remember when I lived in Eugene my roommate Covert and I would listen to the show every night it was on and offer our own commentary to it. Unfortunately we practically became very amateur psychologists because of this. However, me and Covert weren't the only people charmed by this show. When I moved to Vegas and the withdrawls were showing I found comfort in other people that I knew that also longed for that show. The strangest thing about Loveline was that I don't think I have yet to meet a broad who shared the same kind of longing that so many men who liked the show did.

Luckily, for me and my fellow Adam fans he moved onto the Adam Carolla Show and it was immediately broadcast in Vegas. this is the only thing that I have actually listened to on FM radio since Ipod FM transmitters have become available. I listened to the Adam Carolla Show throgh what seems like 50 different lineups, from Dameshek to Bonaduce.

Now that his show is not on FM radio anymore and will start a podcast I can leave the car radio set to AM. I'm just thankful that he's tenacious enough to keep with it and hope that he will be able to continue to get some fun guests. Part of the charm of his shows was his way too get great talent to appear with him including DAG, Larry Miller, and Joel McHale. Well the real winners of this will be ESPN radio and Tom Leykis on AM radio. Enjoy guys it now takes me half the effort to listen to you now.

This could be the movie event that so many fans of the Karate Kid series have been waiting for. Bare Knuckles a movie that stars Martin Kove a.k.a. John Kreese. He played the evil but very emotional master sensi. This man cared for his students by only wanting the best around. As he stated in Karate Kid 2 "Second place? Second place is no place! You're off the team!" This man cared. Finally in 2009 he gets the chance again. No John Kreese is not coming back but Sonny Cool is.

Why so Mad? – I am new to this blogging thing and nor did I think I would ever want to particpaite in one. However Outsleazy begged me to join and said that I would quadrupple readership. As I always say “I live to give”. So here I am with what I think are the most important topics I belive should be disscussed. Nothing I ever say will be false facts. They will remain however my opinion and in my world as I see it my opinion may be used as fact. I will never post anything on here that is out of bounds. Everything is inbounds and in the basketball game of life I play prison/street rules so watch out for the elbows cause this is how I play. I will be covering a number of topics and I can no way list all of them here. A few right off the bat as the creator of the website wrote so clearly as the first sentence – “a place of discussion on media, sports, and modern jackassery. “ So that is generaly what I will cover. I guess any number of things I write about will be covered by that statement so no need to list anymore.

I do want to get one thing out first which is my name – Mad Mike. I did not pick this name so other not to be named folks said this would be the best and I went for it. Yes my first name is Mike but from here on out we will work with Mad Mike or MM if it chooses, but that is it. So one of the first things I did was Google “Mad Mike” and that clown from Pimp my Ride is the first result. How this guy was able to get a website is beyond me. This guys most clever idea was to put TV’s everywhere in the car they were “Pimping”. “Hey Mad Mike what are you going to do this 1984 Dodge Van?” – “Oh Snap Dogg, I got this crazy idea, how bout we put a TV in the back so people can watch it from the outside? Or even cooler would be one under the van. Ya know one that faces the ground so when the car breaks down the repair man can watch this show. Oh yea!”

So this clown has the top spot?? This guy is the biggest moron on the dumbest tv show that was on MTV. Which by the way – MTV – Music Televison. When was the last music video you saw on it? A Blink 182 music video from 2001?

My opinion on the NASA CD

Allright let me repeat myself. I am not a music critic, I really have no degree in music or anything like that. My opinion should be regarded with a grain of salt. Now with all that said I will share my opinion of the NASA - Spirit Of Apollo album. Overall it's not a bad album, though I am a bit disappointed with it in total. While the album is far more cohesive than the "Peeping Tom" album (which was a huge concern of mine) it was still obvious that it felt a little forced at times. Notably on the track "Samba Soul" (awful) which included performances by Del and DJ Q-bert. Del is considerably offbeat on this song which actually makes the song damn near painful to listen to, too bad they Squeak E. Clean and Zegon didn't have anything else for Q-Bert since I would like to see what else he could do. There were a few other misses on the album and unfortunately when they miss they miss big time. However, fortunately when they succeed they make an awesome record. Songs like "Strange Enough" with Karen O, ODB, and Fatlip are amazing, as is "Gifted" with a RIDICULOUS collabortaion including Kanye, Santogold, and Lykke Li. Though The best song on the track was the hidden gem "Electric Flowers" which is following "NASA Anthem" which brought together the RZA and Nina Persson (the Cardigans). This song is amazing, it's almost worth the price of the album.

OVERALL 3/5

Yeah no big deal but Kenny Powers is the man. This is now the funniest show on HBO. After Curb went away and Entourage became a big pile of turd I am thankful that the gods of HBO brought this to me. This is just the kind of Dark Comedy I have been waiting for on TV. Obviously I can't rely on network TV to do half the things that Kenny joked about in the first episode (I don't think anyone has ever made middle schoolers raping eachother sound so funny). This is definitely a show I will following.

I stopped by Albertsons's today to pick up some Henry Weinhards Root Beer, if you hadn't had any...get it. Anyway as I'm on my way out of the store I see the front page of the local Las Vegas paper. Now I'm not a person to really care a lot about Valentines Day, it's not for me particularly but I don't care if the rest of the world is for it. However, the front page of the Las Vegas Review Journal running a HUGE pictorial of the biggest prostitution offenders is a little insensitive to some. Now I would like to shake the hands of the Editor of this fine publication, clearly he must have balls the size of my balls to do this.(LINK)

Yeah so last night was the first episode of "Delocated", what an awesome kickass show. Last year when Adult Swim started coming out with programming that had nothing to do with animation I felt like people were cheating. Now I couldn't care less. Adult Swim has pissed in Comedy Central's eye, Adult Swim programming has managed to do so much more with just a sliver of the budget that Comedy Central uses. Adult Swim has by far surpassed Comedy Central in creativity and intelligence. The New show Delocated has not disappointed at all. I strongly suggest you watch that show ASAP (LINK). In the meantime heres a clip.
